Box Score HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Murray State College women's basketball team faced their second top-20 opponent in as many days this afternoon at the Hutchinson Community College Classic. The Lady Aggies battled but ultimately fell to No. 20 State Fair Community College, 73-59.
After getting down 17-4 to begin the game, the Lady Aggies found their rhythm in the later stages of the first quarter as they trimmed State Fair's lead to just six at 19-13. Each team traded baskets throughout the second quarter as the Roadrunners upped their advantage tonight as the halftime whistle sounded, 38-29.
The third quarter was an up-and-down affair with both teams pushing the tempo. A Chardel Terrell three-pointer from the left wing trimmed the Roadrunner lead to just seven, 54-47, with 46 seconds remaining in the stanza. However, a free throw and pair of transition layups extended the State Fair lead to 59-47 as the teams prepared for the fourth quarter.
The Lady Aggies tried to cut into the lead, but the deficit proved to be too much as the Roadrunners won, 73-59.
The Lady Aggies return home for a game against Ranger College on Monday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
