Lady Aggies Battle but Fall to No. 19 Hutchinson

MSC Women’s Basketball dropped a road game tonight, 86-68

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Murray State College Lady Aggies delivered a gritty effort on Friday evening but came up short against No. 19 Hutchinson Community College, falling 86–68 in a tough road test.

The game was tied at eleven just over six minutes into the game. The hosts from Kansas, though, closed the quarter on a 10-3 run to take a seven point advantage as the first quarter buzzer sounded. The Lady Aggies and Blue Dragons traded baskets through the second quarter as Hutchinson led 38-30 at the half.

The Lady Aggies cut the lead to four early in the third quarter. A 10-0 run by Hutchinson, though, late in the quarter put the Lady Aggies down by double digits. The Lady Aggies would try to make a run, but were unable to and lost 86-68 on Friday evening.

Jordyn McNeal powered the Aggies with a game-high 22 points, showcasing her ability to get to the line repeatedly. She went 11-for-14 at the stripe while adding four rebounds and three assists. 

Emily Steven delivered an efficient night as well, finishing with 17 points on 4-of-7 shooting while knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. The guard was perfect at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6, and added five rebounds. 

Aniah Richard registered 12 points, four assists, and three rebounds. Keshanti Gordon and Jada Toure each contributed seven points, with Toure adding four rebounds.

The Lady Aggies return to the court tomorrow for a non-conference contest tilt against No. 20 State Fair Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
