WILBURTON, Okla. – Murray State canned five three pointers and erupted for 30 points in a furious fourth quarter rally but the Lady Aggies came up just short in a 79-74 conference loss at Eastern Oklahoma State College on Monday night.
The Lady Aggies saw their record slip to 14-12 overall and 6-9 league play with the regular season finale coming up Thursday at home against Western Oklahoma State College. Eastern ran its record to 15-12 and 7-8 in conference action.
Murray State fell behind 25-16 in a massive first quarter by the Lady Mountaineers and saw the hosts extend the advantage to 44-29 at the half and 63-44 heading into the final stanza.
That fourth period proved to be massive for the Lady Aggies as they strung together a huge push as they got three point buckets from
Olivia Quapaw,
Mireia Casas,
Cristina Laudan and
Eva Serra in narrowing the gap dramatically down the stretch. They could never quite get completely over the hump however as Eastern sank five of seven charity tosses down the stretch to ice the win.
Quapaw tallied four three pointers and 18 points to spur the Murray State offensive assault.
Ongolea Afu and
Sosefina Langi each posted 11 with Casas adding nine,
Tierra Williams had eight, Laudan and
Hannah Pinney tossed in five each,
Arissa Garcia tallied four and Serra ended with three.
