McPHERSON, Kan – The Murray State Lady Aggies raced to a big first half lead and cruised the rest of the way in an 84-37 road win over Central Christian College in women's basketball action on Saturday.
Coach Nate Levine's club improved to 2-0 on the young season and will continue their early season road trip on Tuesday at Ranger Junior College in Texas.
Murray State built a 20-9 edge after one stanza and reeled off a big second frame to take a commanding 46-17 cushion into intermission.
Four Lady Aggies reached double figures with two others just shy of that mark, spurred by 13 points apiece from
Keshanti Gordon and
Mya Cotto. Gordon canned a pair of three pointers with Cotto chipping in one.
Arissa Garcia pumped in 11 points and
Ongolea Afu tossed in 10 to round out the double-digit contributors.
Jordyn McNeal and
Brooklyn Weier both scored nine with Weier sinking three second half treys.
Olivia Quapaw notched seven points,
Timber Carter had six with
Mireia Casas, Autumn Sipes-Louie and
Latai Charles all adding two.
"It was a good day for us to figure each other out against another team," Levine said. "We were able to play different combinations of players and see what was successful for us, while making a lot of shots in the process."
