Akash Miriyala enters his third season as an Assistant Coach for the Murray State College Women’s Basketball program.

Coach Akash contributes in many facets of the program including scouting, film breakdowns, skill instruction, and day-to-day operations. He maintains a variety of advanced analytics metrics for use in player development, in-game adjustments, and goal-setting/tracking. He also assists with academics, camps, team travel, equipment management, and recruiting.

In his second season, the Lady Aggies achieved a 28-4 overall record, including wins over Grayson College & Panola College, a 68-69 loss at #1 Hutchinson, and winning the NJCAA Region 2 Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Three players averaged double figures, including Ongolea Afu who was 2nd Team All-American, Region MVP, and leading vote-getter on All-Region 1st Team. Arissa Garcia led the region in assists and steals, and was named to the All-Region 1st Team. Mya Cotto led the team in scoring, was an All-Region 2nd Team selection, and won Region 2 Newcomer of the Year.

In his first season, the Lady Aggies achieved a 15-13 overall record, including wins over Panola College, Howard College, and Connors State. The Lady Aggies had four Freshman average double figures, including Sosefina Langi (14.8 PPG & 6.0 RPG) who was the leading vote-getter on the All-Region 2nd Team.

Prior to Murray State College, Miriyala held various roles as a financial and data analyst. He has researched and written numerous articles focused on topics around basketball analytics, the WNBA, and the women’s game at-large.

Miriyala earned a BS in Finance and Business Analytics from Indiana University in 2016. He is from Naperville, IL and lives in Tishomingo with his dog, Zo.
