In the fall of 2019 Jake Mitzner, returned to the Murray State staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. During his current tenure on the Aggie coaching staff, Mitzer helped put together recruiting classes resulted in the 2021 team that finished runner up in Region II regular season standings and the 2022 team which won the Plains District Championship, advanced to the program’s 3rd NJCAA II World Series appearance finishing 7th in the nation. During the 2020, 2021, & 2022 seasons Mitzner coached catchers, assisted with the pitching staff, and was the bullpen coach on game days. Mitzner recently accepted a full-time position at Murray State College working in Student Support Services, causing his role to shift slightly to the Director of Operations & Recruiting. Mitzner is an invaluable member of the Aggie coaching staff and well-regarded for his loyalty and love for Aggie Baseball.

Mitzner began his college baseball journey at Murray in 2011 as an important member of the support staff as student manager and was a member of the 2013 National Championship team.

In 2014 he moved on to help the Southeastern Oklahoma State University staff for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Mitzner helped the Savage Storm to two Great American Conference post-season appearances.Â

In the summer of 2015 he managed the Santa Fe Fuego of the Pecos League, an independent professional baseball league. Mitzner lead the team to a North Division title, taking his team to the Pecos League Championship game. After the 2015 season he helped several of his players sign affiliated contracts.

Mitzner accepted a position as a Graduate Assistant Coach at East Central University in 2017, where he was responsible for the pitching staff and recruiting. During the summer seasons of 2017 and 2018 Jake was the Head Coach of the Texarkana Twins of the Texas Collegiate League guiding them to back-to-back post season appearances.

Mitzner earned an Associate’s Degree in Health, Wellness and Human Performance from Murray State College in 2014, a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2016, and a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from East Central University in 2018. In 2016 he was inducted into the Murray State College Athletics Hall of Fame as member of the 2013 National Championship team. Mitzner resides in Ada, Oklahoma with his Wife Meaghan, a Murray State Graduate from their PTA program, and their daughters Maddilynn & Kennedy.
