Box Score 2 ENID, Okla. - The Murray State College baseball team defeated Southeast Arkansas College and Western Oklahoma State College on Friday to advance to the weekend of the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament.
Game 1: Murray State 4, Southeast Arkansas 3
Southeast Arkansas broke through first in the top of the sixth inning, using a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly to grab a 2-0 advantage.
The Aggies answered in the bottom of the seventh.
Brady Taylor lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring
Cason Johnson and cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Murray State surged in front an inning later behind a clutch swing from
Marlon Moore. With
Sean Keenen aboard, Moore launched a two-run home run to left field, giving the Aggies a 3-2 lead entering the ninth.
The Sharks tied the game in the top half of the ninth on an RBI double, evening the score at three.
In the bottom of the inning, the Aggies delivered the final answer.
Eli Ramirez scored the winning run on a
Rayner Beene walk-off single to center field, sealing the dramatic 4-3 victory for Murray State.
Game 2: Murray State 11, Western Oklahoma State 3 (7 Innings)
The Aggies wasted no time taking control, erupting for five runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Marlon Moore sparked the rally with a two-run triple to right field, scoring
Tanner Norman and
Sean Keenen. Moments later, Jace Poage launched a two-run home run to extend the lead, and
Brady Taylor followed with a solo shot to make it 5-0.
Murray State kept the pressure on in the third. Moore delivered again with an RBI single to score Norman, while Poage drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Keenen. Later in the inning, Gavin Johnson added an RBI single to push the lead to 8-0.
Western Oklahoma State got on the board in the fourth with a sacrifice fly, and added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI single, cutting the deficit to 8-3.
The Aggies responded immediately in the bottom of the fifth. Taylor came through again, ripping a two-run double to right field that scored Johnson and
Cason Johnson, extending the lead to 10-3.
Murray State added one more in the seventh when Mason Barham singled to right field, bringing home Brayden Knowles to cap the scoring at 11-3.
The Aggies will now play on Saturday against South Arkansas College. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
