Carter Lifts No. 2 Lady Aggies Over No. 7 Jones

Murray State College defeated Jones College, 5-2, in the NJCAA D2 World Series

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Murray State College softball team continued play in the Division II World Series this afternoon. The Lady Aggies beat No. 7 Jones College today, 5-2.

Murray State wasted no time seizing control in the bottom of the first inning, delivering an early knockout punch. With two runners on, Kaylee Carter stepped to the plate and crushed a three-run home run to left field, bringing home Jaliyah Simmons and Lilly Wyche to give the Lady Aggies a commanding 3-0 lead.

Carter continued her dominant performance in the fourth inning, launching her second home run of the game—this time a solo shot—to extend the lead to 4-0. The Lady Aggies kept the pressure on later in the inning, adding another run on a sacrifice fly by Brylee Fanning that scored Avery Beauchamp and pushed the advantage to 5-0.

Jones College managed to get on the board in the top of the fifth with a solo home run to trim Murray State's lead to four.

The Bobcats hit a solo home run to lead off the top of the seventh inning, cutting the deficit to three. The Lady Aggies, however, would retire three of the final four batters in the frame, en route to a 5-2 victory on Thursday.

Isabella Hardeman earned the complete-game victory. Hardeman fired seven innings, while striking out six and giving up two earned runs.

The Lady Aggies continue play tomorrow in the winner's bracket against No. 3 Copiah Lincoln. First pitch is set for 12:30 p.m.
