SHAWNEE, Okla. — The Murray State College women's golf team delivered a dominant performance to capture the NJCAA Division II Central District Championship, finishing well ahead of the competition with a two-day total of 633 (+57).
 
The Aggies set the tone early with a strong opening round of 315 and followed it up with a 318 in round two to secure the title by over 100 strokes. Carl Sandburg College finished second at 752, while Rend Lake College (759), Mott Community College (803), and Danville Area Community College (875) rounded out the field.
 
Murray State's depth proved to be the difference, as the Aggies claimed the top five individual spots in the tournament. Leading the way was Hana Cunnane, who earned her first collegiate victory with a two-round total of 151 (+7). Cunnane backed up her opening 76 with a steady 75 in the final round to finish atop the leaderboard.
 
Teammate Amiya Raja secured a runner-up finish at 156 (+12), posting consistent rounds of 78-78. Paula Gorostiaga Alvarez followed in third place with a 161 (+17), while Emma Hardison placed fourth at 165 (+21). Rounding out the Lady Aggies' top-five sweep was Enora Castillon, who finished fifth with a 167 (+23). 

All five Lady Aggies also earned All-District honors, as the top eight finishers in the tournament were named to the All-District Team.

"Really proud of the girls. They went and performed extremely well. They did what they were supposed to do," said Coach Coppedge. "Winning by 100+ shots was a goal. Also being 1 through 5 was great for the girls. We are excited and ready for nationals in May."
 
The Murray State College women's golf team returns to action in just under a month for the NJCAA Division II National Championships. The event takes place in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and runs from May 12 - May 15.
