About Coach Coppedge

Luke Coppedge begins his fourth season as the Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Murray State College (MSC). Since taking the helm, Coppedge has transformed the Aggies’ golf programs, leading both the men's and women's teams to national recognition.

A member of the inaugural golf team at MSC in 2011, Coppedge helped the program reach new heights, including their first appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament. He placed 31st individually at Nationals during his sophomore year and later played for Southern Nazarene University, where he further honed his skills and experience.

Coaching Success at MSC

  • 2022 (1st Season): In his first season at MSC, Coppedge led the men’s team back to the NJCAA National Championship for the first time in five years. The team secured one win and two runner-up finishes during the spring. Additionally, three of his men’s players earned All-District honors. The women’s team also showed remarkable progress, with a runner-up finish and a third-place finish at the conference tournament.

  • 2023 (2nd Season): Coppedge’s second year was marked by even greater success. The men’s team returned to the NJCAA National Championship, capturing four victories, including a program-record 50-stroke win at the Region 2 Conference Championship with a score of 274 (-14). All five men’s players received All-District honors. The women’s team showed significant improvement, dropping 30 strokes off their average and finishing as conference runner-up.

  • 2024 (3rd Season): Under Coppedge’s leadership, the men’s team won five tournaments and spent the majority of the season ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA Division II rankings. They finished with a top-five placement at Nationals, and three men’s golfers earned All-American honors. The women’s team made history, winning the NJCAA Division II District Championship and finishing No. 4 at Nationals. Addison Furtick became the program’s first-ever DII All-American.
