CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two days after being tabbed the Region 2 Pitcher of the Week, Murray State College freshman pitcher -
Eli Ramirez - earned NJCAA DII Pitcher of the Week honors after a dominant performance on the mound for the Aggies. This is the second time this season that the right-handed flamethrower has been selected for this national recognition.
Ramirez delivered one of his strongest outings of the season, leading Murray State to a 5-0 victory over UA Rich Mountain on Saturday. He tossed six shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out an impressive 14 batters. Ramirez also issued only two walks in the game, keeping opposing hitters off balance from start to finish.
On the season, Ramirez boasts a 4-1 record across 33.2 innings pitched. He has struck out 57 batters while limiting opponents to a .164 batting average.
The Aggies are 28-8 on the season and ranked No. 10 in the latest NJCAA DII Coaches Poll, which was released earlier this week.
