SEMINOLE, Okla. – Murray State College sophomore pitcher,
Carolyn Overton, has been named the Region 2 Pitcher of the Week after a dominant two-game stretch in the circle for the Lady Aggies.
Overton played a key role in Murray State's strong week, earning two victories while allowing just four hits and three runs across 12 innings of work. The sophomore struck out 19 batters and limited opponents to a 0.83 WHIP during the span.
Overton opened the week on Thursday with a win over No. 21 Parkland College, pitching six innings while striking out seven batters and allowing three runs on three hits.
Overton followed that performance with an even more dominant outing the next day against No. 18 North Iowa Area Community College. She tossed six shutout innings, surrendering just one hit while striking out 12 batters in the 9-0 victory.
Through her two appearances, the sophomore faced 48 batters and allowed opponents to hit just .114 for the week.
On the season, the sophomore owns a 7-0 record with a 0.58 ERA across 36.1 innings, striking out 38 batters while allowing only 15 hits.
The Murray State College softball team is 31-1 and ranked No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Coaches Poll, which was released earlier today.

The Lady Aggies begin Region 2 play as they travel to Arkansas to take on National Park College in a doubleheader on Mar. 13. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
