SEMINOLE, Okla. – Murray State College sophomore, Jaliyah Simmons, has been named the NJCAA Region 2 Player of the Week after a standout offensive performance that helped power the Lady Aggies to a perfect weekend.

Simmons was a force at the plate across four games, consistently delivering in key moments while showcasing both power and run production. She opened the series against Southeast Arkansas College with a 1-for-3 performance, driving in a run and scoring once in the victory.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Simmons erupted for one of her best performances of the season, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and six RBIs, including a home run and a double to lead the Lady Aggies to another win.

She carried that momentum into Saturday's matchup against SAU Tech. Simmons went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI in the first game. Then, she capped the weekend with another dominant showing in game two, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs while adding another home run.

For the week, Simmons hit .571, going 8-for-14 at the plate with five runs scored, 12 RBIs, three home runs, and a double.

On the season, Simmons has been one of the most consistent hitters in the Lady Aggies' lineup. She is batting .456 with 62 hits, 69 runs scored, and 66 RBIs. Her power numbers include 13 doubles, three triples, and 13 home runs, while also drawing 12 walks. The sophomore standout also leads the team in stolen bases with 23 swipes on the season.

The Murray State College softball team is 43-1 on the season and ranked No. 2 in the latest NJCAA DII Coaches Poll, which was released earlier today.

The Lady Aggies will have a few days off before traveling to Missouri for a doubleheader against Crowder College on Friday. First pitch is set for noon.
