No. 10 Aggies Pick Up Road Victory

Murray State defeated Eastern Oklahoma State College on Monday

WILBURTON, Okla. - The Murray State College baseball team used a powerful offensive performance, highlighted by two home runs from Eli Ramirez, to defeat Eastern Oklahoma State College, 10-6.

The Aggies got on the board in the top of the third inning when Eli Ramirez blasted a two-run home run to center field, scoring Braden Hitchcock and giving Murray State a 2-0 lead. Eastern Oklahoma State responded in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single to right field to trim the deficit to 2-1.
 
Ramirez delivered again in the fifth inning. After Hitchcock stole second and third base, Ramirez launched his second two-run homer of the game, this time to left field, extending the Aggies' lead to 4-1.
 
Murray State broke the game open in the sixth inning with a four-run frame. Fernando Jorge lined a two-run double to left field that scored Tanner Norman and Sean Keenen. Later in the inning, Marlon Moore added an RBI single to score Jorge, and Hitchcock followed with an RBI double to center field that plated Moore to push the lead to 8-1.
 
Eastern Oklahoma State chipped away in the eighth inning with a sac fly, cutting the margin to 8-2.
 
The Aggies added insurance runs in the ninth. Norman scored on a ground-ball double play, and Hitchcock capped off his strong day with an RBI single to left field that scored Keenen and stretched the lead to 10-2.
 
Eastern Oklahoma State attempted a late comeback in the bottom of the ninth, stringing together three RBI singles to score four runs, but Murray State pitcher Peyton Eichler got the final two outs to seal the 10-6 victory.
 
Kylen Dodge got the start for the Aggies as he tossed four innings of one-run baseball. Heath Graf and Aiden Luscombe each fired a scoreless inning in relief.
 
The Aggies return home to host Western Oklahoma State College on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
