Aggies Win Road Thriller, 79-78

MSC Men’s Basketball defeated Eastern Oklahoma State on Thursday

WILBURTON, Okla. — The Murray State College men's basketball team earned a thrilling road victory Thursday night, edging Eastern Oklahoma State College, 79–78, in a back-and-forth contest that came down to the final seconds.
 
Murray State wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to a 13–2 lead just six minutes into the game. The Aggies maintained control throughout most of the opening half, keeping their advantage around double digits behind efficient offense and strong defensive pressure. Murray State carried a 43–33 lead into halftime.
 
The Aggies appeared to take firm command early in the second half. A 9–0 run pushed their lead to 60–41 with 14 minutes remaining, giving Murray State its largest advantage of the night. However, Eastern Oklahoma State responded with a dramatic surge, using a 28–8 run to erase the deficit and take a one-point lead with just over four minutes to play.
 
The final stretch featured several lead changes as both teams traded baskets in a tense finish. Trailing by one with 30 seconds remaining, Murray State's Malachi Schilreff delivered the decisive moment, scoring to give the Aggies a one-point edge. Eastern Oklahoma State had one final opportunity but missed a contested pull-up jumper with four seconds left, and Murray State secured the rebound to seal the 79–78 win.
 
The Aggies were led by Haki Muhammad II, who poured in a game-high 25 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Schilreff added 16 points, including the game-winning basket, while also recording 10 rebounds and six assists in an all-around performance. This was Schilreff's second double-double of the season. Abeeng Agot contributed 13 points and six rebounds, and Ashton Smith chipped in 10 points. Domantas Sarauskas and Devon MacCollister dished out five and three assists, respectively.
 
As a team, Murray State shot 50 percent from the field and connected on 12 three-pointers, while recording 20 assists in the victory.
 
Murray State returns home to battle Western Oklahoma State College on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
