Aggies Fall to Mountaineers

MSC Men’s Basketball Lost to Eastern Oklahoma State College, 94-88, on Monday

TISHOMINGO, Okla. — The Murray State College men's basketball team dropped a home contest to Eastern Oklahoma State College, 94–88.
 
Eastern Oklahoma State built an early advantage and carried a 40–31 lead into halftime. The Aggies tried to respond after the break, but could not get a key stop or rebound and were unable to fully close the gap down the stretch.
 
Haki Muhammad II led all scorers with 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Tayesen Combs added 14 points, knocking down four shots from beyond the arc, while Malachi Schilreff contributed 11 points.
 
Aymen Kraria was active on both ends of the floor, finishing with nine points, a team-high nine rebounds, and five assists. Ashton Smith scored 13 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line, and Domantas Šarauskas chipped in eight points.
 
Murray State shot 40.6 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from three-point range, while converting 21 of 23 attempts at the free throw line. The Aggies got outrebounded, while only grabbing 12 defensive rebounds in the contest.
 
Murray State will travel to Miami, Oklahoma to take on NEO A&M on Jan. 26. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. as the Aggies continue Region 2 play.
