MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Top seeded Murray State raced to an 18-1 lead and never looked back while cruising past Northern Oklahoma College-Enid for an 89-36 Region 2 women's tournament opening round victory on Thursday night.
It was the Lady Aggies' 11
th straight win to improve to 26-3 on the year. They will meet Connors State in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday. Murray State claimed both regular season matchups, winning 82-72 in Warner as well as 70-51 at Tishomingo just a month ago.
Murray State fed off that early blitz while outscoring the Lady Jets 26-8 in the opening stanza ahead of building a 49-21 edge with 13 of those points coming from freshman
Keshanti Gordon, who poured in a team-high 19 in the contest. That included a trio of three pointers.
Coach Nate Levine's club continued to pour it on after the break, posting a 21-7 scoring surge in the third frame and 19-8 in the fourth.
Every Lady Aggie that suited up scored in the contest, fueled by Gordon.
Mya Cotto and
Jordyn McNeal pumped in 12 points apiece with
Elyssia Brooks tossing in a season-high 11 points.
Arissa Garcia notched nine,
Taja Bennett and
Olivia Quapaw contributed seven each,
Mireia Casas and
Latai Charles both had five as
Awtumn Sipes-Louie added two points.
