Ashton Smith was Named Region 2 Player of the Week

SEMINOLE, Okla. – Murray State College guard Ashton Smith has been named the Region II Player of the Week after delivering two standout performances that powered the Aggies to a perfect 2–0 record, capped by a dramatic road win at Collin College.
 
Smith put together one of the most memorable moments of the season in the victory at Collin, burying a game-winning three-pointer with just three seconds remaining to lift Murray State to a 60–57 road victory. The sophomore guard was outstanding throughout the night, scoring 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting while knocking down four three-pointers. He led the Aggies on a 12-2 run over the final four and a half minutes to defeat the Cougars. Smith added three rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 38 high-energy minutes to secure the statement road win.
 
Earlier in the week, Smith helped lead the Aggies to an 89-71 victory over Ranger College with another strong outing. He posted 14 points, while showcasing his reliability at the free throw line with an impressive 9-for-10 performance. Smith also added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in his 25 minutes of action.
 
Across the two games, Smith averaged 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists to lead the Aggies to a 2-0 week. With the wins, the Aggies are now receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division I Top 25 Poll for the second time this season.

The Murray State College men's basketball team is currently 10-3 on the season.
