LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Murray State College head softball coach, Aaron Mullens, has been elected to serve on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Board of Directors as the NJCAA Representative, the organization announced this week.

Mullens joins a distinguished group of new board members that includes Lauren Ebstein (Tufts University, NCAA Division III), Bruce Lenington (University of the Cumberlands, NAIA), and Karen Sanders (Valley View High School, Ark.), all of whom will serve on the NFCA Board for the first time. Oklahoma State University head coach, Kenny Gajewski, was also elected as the new NFCA President.

The NFCA Board of Directors is composed of representatives from all levels of softball—ranging from NCAA Division I to high school and travel ball—and plays a vital role in shaping the direction of the sport nationwide. As the NJCAA representative, Mullens will serve as a voice for junior college softball programs across the country, helping guide initiatives that promote the growth and advancement of the game at the two-year college level. Each board member serves for a three-year term with Mullens officially beginning on January 1, 2026.

"It's an honor to be voted on by NJCAA coaching peers and have the opportunity to serve on the NFCA board of directors to continue to grow the sport," said Coach Mullens. "I look forward to working with all the softball constituents over the next 3 years."

Under Mullens' leadership, Murray State College softball has become one of the top programs in the NJCAA every year. His teams have consistently competed at a high level, developing student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom.

Outgoing NJCAA representative Lana Ross of Kansas City Kansas Community College will be recognized for her service during the NFCA Convention's Awards Brunch on December 13 in Las Vegas, where Mullens and the other new board members will also be introduced.

Mullens and the Murray State College softball team have put together a strong fall season and look to carry their momentum into their Fall World Series on Nov. 11-13.
