JACKSONVILLE, Texas – A dominant performance on each end of the field propelled the Murray State Aggies to an 8-0 men's soccer blanking of Jacksonville College on the road Monday.
The 2-0 Aggies return to action Saturday with the start of conference play at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid starting at 5 p.m.
Coach Alex Morais' squad took control from the outset and controlled possession against the Jaguars through most of the contest, needing just two saves from freshman keeper
Francisco Pinochet in limited Jacksonville scoring opportunities.
On the offensive side,
Alexis Lopez punched through two more goals with plenty of help along the way.
After an early stalemate, the Aggies took the lead for good on a goal in the 40
th minute from
Ilyan Meradji coming off a
Yosuke Shimizu assist.
The Murray State offensive barrage commenced in earnest in the second half with Lopez picking up the first of his two goals unassisted at the 52-minute mark.
Ryosuke Miyata fed
Nicolo Donadio for another score just six minutes later and things just snowballed from there.
Caio Felipe picked up an assist on Lopez's next score and Miyata notched his second assist on a
Shuto Ishikawa goal before punching one into the back of the net himself just three minutes off a Meradji assist.
Arthur Bastos contributed another score in the 77
th minute after a
Matias Bauza assist and Bauza notched the final goal with an assist going to Meradji.
