MUSKOGEE, Okla – Murray State held a halftime lead in Friday's upset bid of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M but a cold shooting second half was costly as the Aggies saw their season end with a 72-59 loss in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region 2 tournament.
The Aggies closed the year at 16-16 while NEO improved to 27-4 while advancing to the tournament championship game.
Coach Josh Davis' squad got off to a solid start while canning five first half three pointers to take a 35-33 lead into the halftime locker room. R.J. Chatman and
Rustin Coffey each tallied a pair of treys with
Tarrance Austin and
Dayvantia Campbell pitching in six points apiece.
That offense seemingly dried up as Murray State managed a single trey after intermission and eight total field goals while the powerful Norsemen powered the ball inside to pull away with a large edge on the boards.
Coffey finished with three treys and a team-high 13 points with
Ignas Juskevicius also tallying double figures with 10.
Stanley Harley posted nine,
Tarrance Austin and Campbell had eight apiece, Chatman scored six and
Treyvaughn Williams ended with five points.
