ENID, Okla – A big second half performance erased a double-digit deficit but the Murray State Lady Aggies came up just short in suffering a third straight conference loss, 67-63, on the road Thursday night at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid.
Now 5-7 in league play and 13-10 overall, the Lady Aggies return home Monday for a 5:30 matchup with Redlands Community College. NOC-Enid improved to 14-7 overall and 9-4 in conference.
Enid grabbed an 18-14 edge after one period and that margin blossomed to 37-24 at the break before Murray State began the comeback.
Ongolea Afu pumped in 12 of the Lady Aggies' 17 third quarter points to narrow the gap to 51-41 heading into the final frame. That's when freshman
Olivia Quapaw caught fire with 11 points, including three treys, but the Lady Aggies could never get close enough to claim the lead as the Lady Jets canned eight of 10 charity tosses down the stretch.
Afu posted 21 points and Quapaw tossed in 20 to fuel the Murray State charge.
Sosefina Langi finished at eight points with
Mireia Casas adding six on a pair of big fourth quarter three pointers.
Hannah Pinney notched four,
Cristina Laudan had two with
Tierra Williams and
Khalayah Willis contributing one apiece.
