TONKAWA, Okla – Northern Oklahoma College came out smoking hot from the start and the Murray State Lady Aggies had difficulty in keeping pace in an 81-67 conference road defeat on the road Monday night.
The host Lady Mavs connected for 13 three pointers, including four in a massive 26-point flurry right out of the gates to carry a 26-16 advantage to the second stanza.
NOC-Tonkawa pushed the edge to 46-32 at halftime before a narrow 16-15 scoring run led by
Ongolea Afu in the third period narrowed the gap slightly. The two clubs played dead even over the final two quarters with each scoring 35 points.
Afu pumped in 19 points to lead the scoring, including 12 after the break.
Sosefina Langi and
Cristina Laudan hit double figures as well with 11 points apiece.
Hannah Pinney scored eight,
Mireia Casas and
Tierra Williams tossed in six each,
Olivia Quapaw had five with
Khalayah Willis chipping in one point.
Murray State falls to 13-9 overall and 5-6 in league play with another road trip slated Thursday night at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid.
