RANGER, Texas – Cashing in early turnovers, the Murray State Lady Aggies erupted for 25-point first quarter points and steadily pulled away with four players reaching double figures in a 71-52 road win at Ranger College on Tuesday night.
With their third straight opening season road victory, Coach Nate Levine's club improved to 3-0 heading toward the home opener and Homecoming on Friday against Dallas College-Mountain View, tipping off at 5:30.
In Tuesday's contest, the Lady Aggies built a 25-13 advantage after one period and 41-21 at intermission as sophomore
Olivia Quapaw pumped in 13 of her team-high 16 points before the break.
Murray State tallied another 21-16 edge in the third frame and cruised the rest of the way.
In addition Quapaw's 16,
Jordyn McNeal provided 13 points as she canned three treys.
Keshanti Gordon and
Arissa Garcia notched 11 points each with Garcia having a perfect night at the charity stripe with six of six.
Ongolea Afu pitched in eight points,
Mya Cotto scored seven with
Mireia Casas adding three and
Latai Charles two.
"Our pressure really got to them in the first half, and we were able to build on the lead from there," Levine stated. "Our team is very unselfish, and we had four players in double figures. When we share the ball and find the right shot, good things happen."
