MIAMI, Okla – Bouncing back from their first loss of the season, the ninth-ranked Murray State College men's soccer team closed out the Region 2 regular season on Sunday with a 2-0 whitewashing of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

It was a defensive slugfest most of the contest as neither team could crack the scoreboard until Alexis Lopez's goal off a Luis Rodrigues assist in the game's 85th minute gave the Aggies the lead.

Ryosuke Miya connected for a second goal with just 27 seconds left in the contest for the final margin. That score came via a Shuto Ishikawa assist.

The Aggies had multiple scoring opportunities throughout the game, totaling 15 shots on goal while the Norsemen managed only a handful of shots. Miguel Fajardo posted four saves to finish off the team's seventh shutout of the year.

Coach Alex Morais' club closed out conference play at 11-1 while improving to 14-1 overall. The Aggies will wrap up the regular season Thursday with a road tilt at Austin College before the Region 2 tournament next week in which they will be the number one seed.

"We played really well defensively and are excited to get the playoffs started," Morais said. "We need to get everyone healthy and ready to go this week."
