NJCAA DII Coaches Poll
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – Fresh off a solid showing at the Hesston Fall Kickoff, the Murray State College men's golf team received more positive recognition earlier today. This time it comes in the form of earning a Top-10 ranking in the first installment of the 2023-24 Bushnell/Golfweek NJCAA DII Coaches Poll.
"I knew this team was going to be special coming in, but it's surreal to see us being noticed this early in the rankings," said Lucas Coppedge, Murray State College Head Golf Coach. "I hope to see us continue to climb as the season continues."
The defending champions from Kirkwood University claimed the top spot, while South Mountain and Parkland followed closely behind. Mississippi Gulf Coast sits just ahead of Walters State for the No. 4 ranking. Glendale edged Des Moines Area for the No. 6 spot, while Meridian and Iowa Central sit right in front of Murray State for the No. 8 and 9 positions, respectively.
The Murray State College men's golf team began their season earlier this week with a third-place finish at the Hesston Fall Kickoff. Jurgen Ballesteros paced the Aggies with consistent play all tournament, en route to rounds of 72, 74, and 71. The depth of the golf team continued to show as freshman Adam Husell recorded Murray State College's best individual round of the tournament with a second-round 69 (-2). Elias Tamer and Hunter Estep were in contention throughout the competition as they turned their scorecards in two shots and four shots back of Husell, respectively.

The tenth-ranked Murray State College men's golf team returns to the course Sept. 18-19 for the NJCAA National Preview. The tournament is held at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, Missouri.
