Murray women clinch conference crown

The nets came down in celebration Thursday night at Beames Fieldhouse as the Murray State Lady Aggies wrapped up the conference regular season crown with a 71-50 victory over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa.

Ranked 25^th in the nation, the Lady Aggies ran their overall winning streak to 15 in a row while improving to 22-6 on the season. Murray State also extended its league streak in home games to 18 straight victories.

There was little in doubt during a dominant first half by the Lady Aggies as they raced to a 42-24 advantage before putting things into cruise control after intermission. Reese Webb was virtually unstoppable in the opening 20 minutes, pumping in 16 of her game-high 21 points prior to the break while leading the charge.

Jade Millan canned a pair of three-pointers early on and tallied 10 in the first half as well, finishing in double figures with 12 while Mattie Busby was the third double-digit contributor with 10 points.

Lanie Gooch and Remi Langmaid tossed in eight points apiece, Briana Knabe scored seven, Payton James had three and Paige Taylor notched two.

The Lady Aggies close out the regular season Monday on the road at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus for a 5:30 tipoff.
