39 Aggies tabbed as Academic All-Americans

The 2021-22 school year proved to be a successful one for Murray State athletic teams in both competition and in the classroom as a whopping 39 Aggie student athletes received Academic All-American status by the NJCAA in their respective sports.

Baseball and softball led the way with 10 honorees each, including each with four first-team honorees. In total, there were 12 Murray State first-team Academic All-Americans with eight, second-teamers, and 19 listed on the third team. In order to be selected, students had to achieve an overall grade point average of 3.60 or higher.

For the national runner-up softball squad, Abby Beck, Sheyenne Cheek, Katyn Denson and Cameron Duncan were all recognized as first-team choices. Chesnie Hewitt and Remi West were named to the second team. Maddie Bramblett, Jadyn Hook, Brylea Russell and Sabetha Sands were tabbed on the third team.

Leading the way for the Aggie baseball team, which also reached the World Series, were first-team academic selections Sage Hampton, Clay Jung, Chase Keeton and Ethan Moore. Third-team honorees were Will Ellis, Brady Evans, Wyatt Gardner, Matt Marsic, Tim O'Connor and Cadge Wallace.

Murray State's women's soccer team notched nine honorees. Trinity Krauss was a first-team choice; Angelina Hernandez and Aralis Ramirez were selected to the second team. Third-team recognition went to Angelica Cruz, Marisol Fraga, Sanjuana Salazar, Emily Salazar, Colee Taylor-Rogers and Alyiah Tomlinson.

The Lady Aggie national tournament women's basketball squad garnered six academic selections. Three of those were first teamers in Celina Eisenhardt, Destinee Browning and Holli Lindley. Lanie Gooch and Reese Webb picked up second-team honors, and Elisa Sanchez being named to the third team.

Three members of the men's soccer team were tabbed on the list, topped by Marcus Momolu receiving second-team honors. Oliver Lisk and Periale Noutaha were third-team selections.
Jaxon Ingram was a second-team academic honoree from the men's basketball team.
