Lady Aggies Take Down Cedar Valley and WOSC to Continue Conference Play

On Tuesday, February 4, the Murray State College Women's Basketball Team welcomed Cedar Valley College to Beames Fieldhouse. The Aggies, who were looking to secure their sixth straight win, dominated the game early after jumping out to a 29-12 lead to end the first quarter. Cedar Valley, who was held to just 12 points or less in each quarter of the game, was only able to slow the Aggie offense slightly in the second quarter before Murray State extended their lead to 62-30 with 10 minutes left in the game. The Aggies, who cruised to a78-35 win, saw all 12 players who took the court score at least two points in the game. They were led in scoring by Macy Smith with 16 points and Alaijah Stewart with 11 points. Also, the two freshman each scored a trio of three-point shots in the game which saw the Aggies make 13 three pointers compared to only two for Cedar Valley. MSC sophomore Kes Reeves added 10 points in the game and freshman Madison Robertson led the Aggies with nine rebounds.

After being pushed back a day because of lingering winter weather, the Lady Aggies welcomed regional rival Western Oklahoma State College to Beames Fieldhouse February 7. The Aggies, who had won five-straight regional games, took control of the game early, outscoring Western Oklahoma 29-to-11 in the first quarter. After a slow start, the Lady Pioneers answered back late in the first half with a series of three-point baskets to cut the Aggie lead to 41-28 at halftime. In the second half, Murray State continued to dominate the game behind the three-point line, scoring 11 three-point baskets and out rebounding Western Oklahoma State 34-to-23 on their way to a 81-64 victory. The Aggies were led in scoring by freshmen Alaijah Stewart with 22 points and Macy Smith with 16 points, both of whom made four three-point baskets in the game. Freshman Madison Roberson had 14 points and led the Aggies with eight rebounds.

The win improves the Aggie record to 15 wins and nine losses overall and six-and-four in regional play.
