Nance’s Last Second Shot Propels Aggies to Beat Eastern 78-77

Tishomingo, Oklahoma- Adam Nance hit the first game winner of his career, a three-point shot from the right corner giving the Murray State Aggies men's basketball team a 78-77 victory over the Eastern Oklahoma Mountaineers Thursday night at Beames Fieldhouse.

The Aggies would jump out to an early 4-0 lead off of a free throw by Adam Gouro and a three pointer by Adam Nance. However Eastern would answer with a 10-2 run to pull ahead on the Aggies 10-6 with just under sixteen minutes to go in the first half. The teams would trade buckets for the next several minutes, but the Mountaineers would increase their lead by as much as ten with 5:17 to go in the first half. The would court the lead to within five with just over two minutes to go in the half but Eastern would answer with a 6-0 run to go up 11 at the half.

In the second half the Aggies struck first with free throws by Karey Mcleish to pull within 9 to start the second half. Eastern quickly answered to bring the lead back up to double digits, but with string of stops and baskets by Nance, Kyle Murray, and an and one layup by Lloyd Daniels the Aggies were able to shrink the lead down to three with just fifteen and a half minutes to go in the contest. The teams would trade basket for the next couple of minutes and it was not until the a basket by Derek Guest with 12:36 to go that the Aggies would take a lead. The Aggies would increase the lead out to as much as seven points, but Eastern would go on a run to tie up the game with 5:03 left. The teams would trade baskets and with 1:30 left in the ball game the Mountaineers had a three-point edge over the Aggies. 
With 57.1 seconds to go Kyle Murray made a tough layup to pull the Aggies within one. With 42.9 left after getting a stop on the defensive end the Aggies would have a chance to take the lead but a turnover by Daniels forced the Aggies to foul with 19.4 left.  Eastern would go one for two from the free throw line giving the Aggies the last shot of the game. That was where with 2.4 seconds off a cross court pass by Murray, Nance would sink the game winner to give the Aggies the victory.
Lloyd Daniels led the Aggies with 20 points and six rebounds along with four assists. Adam Nance add 17 points and six rebounds as well. Kyle Murray scored 12 points and tallied a career high 12 rebounds and the first career double- double for the freshman guard.
The win improved the Aggies record to 4-7 and 1-0 in Region II play. The Aggies will next play at home Saturday at 4 p.m. against Grayson College.
