CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Murray State College Athletics continues to make an impact on the national stage, as two Aggie head coaches have been selected by their peers to serve as presidents of their respective NJCAA coaches associations.
Head Softball Coach -
Aaron Mullens - serves as the President of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, while Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach -
Luke Coppedge - has been named the President of the NJCAA Women's Golf Coaches Association.
The appointments place Murray State College among a select group of institutions with multiple coaches serving in national leadership positions within the NJCAA.
As President of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, Mullens represents softball coaches from across the nation while helping guide discussions on national rankings, championship procedures, legislation and initiatives designed to enhance the student-athlete experience.
"It is truly an honor to serve alongside so many outstanding coaches throughout the NJCAA," Mullens said. "Junior college softball has provided incredible opportunities for countless student-athletes, and I'm grateful for the chance to help continue moving our sport forward. I'm thankful for the confidence my fellow coaches have placed in me, and I look forward to working together to strengthen NJCAA softball."
Coppedge's appointment as President of the NJCAA Women's Golf Coaches Association follows years of involvement in NJCAA golf and national championship competition. In his leadership role, he will work with coaches nationwide on championship policies, rankings and initiatives that promote the continued growth of women's golf.
"I'm honored to be selected by my peers to serve as president of the NJCAA Women's Golf Coaches Association," Coppedge said. "The NJCAA provides tremendous opportunities for student-athletes, and I'm excited to work with coaches from around the country to continue improving and growing women's golf. It's a privilege to represent Murray State College while serving the sport at the national level."
Mullens has established the Lady Aggies into one of the premier softball programs in the country, consistently competing for conference, regional and national championships. During the 2025-26 season, Murray State finished 66-3 overall, captured both the Region 2 regular season and tournament championships, and advanced to the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series, where the Lady Aggies placed third nationally.
Coppedge has elevated Murray State College into a national golf power. During the 2025-26 season, the Aggie men's golf team captured the NJCAA Division II National Championship, while the Lady Aggies finished as national runner-up, highlighting one of the finest seasons in program history.
