PLYMOUTH, Ind. - For the first time in program history, the Murray State College men's golf team captured the NJCAA Division II Championship on Friday afternoon at Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.

The Aggies led after each round of the four-day tournament and closed out the championship seven strokes ahead of the runner-up to secure the national title.

Leading the way for Murray State was freshman Connor Tallentire, who claimed the individual national championship after finishing at 1-under-par for the tournament. Tallentire consistently stayed at the top of the leaderboard throughout the week before sealing the title on Friday to give the Aggies both the team and individual championships.

Shashank Koirala also delivered a standout performance, placing fifth overall at 3-over-par for the tournament to earn a top-five national finish.

Keegan Westlake and Joss Lopez each tied for 21st place after both golfers finished the week at 9-over-par, providing valuable scoring depth throughout the championship run. Luca Bordoni also competed for the Aggies during the national tournament.

With their tremendous performances, Tallentire and Koriala were named First Team All-Americans. Westlake and Lopez also earned Honorable Mention All-American honors.

Murray State's consistency and depth across all four rounds proved to be the difference as the Aggies maintained their lead from start to finish against the strongest teams in the country.

"I am incredibly proud of our team! What an emotional week," said Coach Coppedge. "These players get here in the fall, and I feel like they leave so fast. Shashank, Joss and Luca will be missed dearly! What a group of Sophomores. We lose Keegan as a freshman but his presence was felt this year for sure! What can I say about Mr. Connor Tallentire? He is the first Murray State Individual Medalist! He and Shank played a major part in our success! We could not have done it without them."

The national championship caps off a memorable season for the Aggies that included five tournament victories.
