FARMINGTON, Mo. — The Murray State College men's golf team delivered a dominant performance this week, capturing the NJCAA Division II South Central District title in convincing fashion.
Over three rounds, the Aggies separated themselves from the field with consistency and composure, finishing at +25 overall (+15, +5, +5) to comfortably outdistance runner-up North Central Missouri (+47). Jacksonville (TX) and Mineral Area (MO) tied for third at +50, while Seminole State (OK) rounded out the top five at +53.
Murray State set the tone early with a strong opening round and never relinquished control, tightening its grip with back-to-back +5 team rounds to close the tournament. The balanced scoring attack proved to be the difference, as the Aggies avoided big numbers and steadily extended their lead down the stretch.
Individually, the Aggies were just as impressive.
Keegan Westlake led the charge, en route to his second straight individual tournament victory with an even-par performance across three rounds (+1, E, -1). Westlake's steady play, highlighted by a final-round under-par effort, positioned him atop the leaderboard and anchored Murray State's title run.
He was backed by
Connor Tallentire, who tied for fifth at +5 (+4, +2, -1), closing strong with a red-number final round of his own.
Shashank Koirala added a 13th-place finish at +12, while
Joss Lopez finished tied for 14th at +13.
Luca Bordoni rounded out the scoring group, tying for 22nd at +18.
The Aggies' depth was evident throughout the tournament, placing five golfers inside the top 25 and showcasing the lineup stability that has defined their season.
The Murray State College men's golf team returns to action on May 19 for the NJCAA Division II National Championships. The event takes place in Plymouth, Indiana and runs from May 19 - May 22.
