COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - The Murray State College men's wrestling team competed against the nation's best at the 2026 NJCAA Wrestling National Championships with several Aggies picking up victories and gaining valuable experience on the national stage.

At 149 pounds,
Kade Carter opened the tournament with a strong showing, defeating Gunnar Johnson of Rochester Community and Technical College by a 14-4 major decision. Carter controlled the bout throughout to earn the convincing victory before dropping his next two matches in the bracket.

Nathan Brown competed in the 157-pound division and battled back after an early loss. Brown responded with a 15-7 victory over Elan Bekker of Henry Ford College, using a strong offensive performance to secure the win. He then advanced in the bracket with a medical forfeit before eventually falling in his final match of the tournament.

The Aggies saw their deepest run of the championships at 174 pounds from
Nate Jean, who rebounded after an opening-round loss with an impressive run through the consolation bracket. Jean began the streak with a dominant 16-1 technical fall over Josh Berlin of Ellsworth Community College. He followed with a tightly contested 4-2 victory over Teddy Johnson of Snow College before adding a 9-5 decision against Kollin Sullivan of Garrett College. Jean continued his strong performance with a commanding 17-0 technical fall against Micah Cauthers of Cloud County Community College to extend his run before ultimately dropping his final match of the event and bringing Murray State's inaugural wrestling season to a close.
