ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Murray State College academic team showcased its intellectual talent at the 2026 NAQT Community College Championships, earning an impressive second-place finish among the nation's top community college competitors.

The Murray State A Team concluded the tournament with an 11-2 record, amassing 4,820 points, which highlights their precision and depth in a highly competitive field. Murray State went undefeated in preliminary and playoff play to advance to the championship series. In the advantaged final, the Aggies fell in both games to 1-seed Chipola College - a team MSC had defeated earlier in the tournament - to secure the national runner-up finish. Only Chipola College, with a 12-1 record, edged out MSC's A Team for first place.

Individually, Kanyon Beck finished as the second-highest scorer in the entire tournament, while William Day placed seventh overall. Both Beck and Day garnered All-American recognition as well. Their performances were instrumental in leading the Aggies through an outstanding national tournament run.

The Murray State College program's success extended beyond the A Team. The B Team secured fourth place, finishing with an 8-3 record and 3,455 points. Meanwhile, the C Team tied for 11th, posting a 6-5 record with 1,475 points, demonstrating the depth and consistency of MSC's academic talent across multiple squads.

The Murray State College Academic Team returns to competition March 28 for a home contest.
