Aggies Compete at NJCAA South Central District Championships

Murray State College men’s wrestling competed in Kansas today

PRATT, Kan. - The Murray State College men's wrestling team competed at the NJCAA South Central District Championships, producing multiple place finishers and scoring across several weight classes.

At 174 pounds, Nate Jean delivered Murray State's top placement, finishing fourth and scoring 13.5 team points. Jean opened with a decision win over Trystian Juarez of Pratt Community College and rebounded from a semifinal loss with a consolation semifinal victory by fall over Parker Farr of Fort Hays Tech Northwest.

At 149 pounds, Kade Carter earned a sixth-place finish, gaining 8.0 team points. After receiving a first-round bye, Carter advanced to the semifinals with a sudden victory win over Kasen Smith of Neosho County Community College. He later fell in the championship semifinal and consolation semifinal by pin to finish sixth.

Nathan Brown placed seventh at 157 pounds, contributing 7.0 team points. Brown earned a technical fall victory over Conner Colby of Fort Hays Tech Northwest and secured seventh place with a dominant 22-10 major decision over Gabe Swoyer of Barton.

At 184 pounds, Tyler Medeiros finished eighth, scoring 3.0 team points, while Desmond Mayfield (125 pounds), Gavin Wehr (133 pounds), and Brayden Tomlinson (197 pounds) competed but did not place. Mayfield and Wehr each advanced into the consolation bracket after opening-round losses, while Tomlinson dropped a decision in the quarterfinals before being eliminated by fall in the consolation round.

With their results, Nate Jean, Kade Carter, and Nathan Brown qualified for Nationals, which will take place March 6 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
