TISHOMINGO, Okla. - Murray State College's academic team delivered an impressive performance at ACF Fall, with the Aggies' A team finishing second and the B team earning third place in a competitive tournament featuring some of the region's top collegiate academic teams.

The A team's only losses came against eventual tournament champion UT-Dallas, including a championship-round matchup that came down to the final two questions. The B team also put up a strong fight against UT-Dallas, pushing the eventual champions to the final question in their preliminary-round matchup.

Throughout the tournament, the A team earned decisive victories over Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, both teams from the University of Central Oklahoma, both University of Arkansas teams and UT-Dallas' B team. The Aggies won each of those matchups by at least three questions, highlighted by a dominant performance against Oklahoma State in which Murray State answered 19 of 20 questions correctly and won by a score of 535-0.

The B team turned in a similarly strong showing, competing closely with the tournament's top programs. All three of the B team's losses came down to the final question, demonstrating the team's ability to compete at a high level throughout the event.

Individually, Murray State College athletes also stood out among the tournament's top competitors. Rachel Prince, a member of the B team, finished as the field's top scorer, while Rhys Sumpter of the A team recorded the highest score on history questions in the tournament.

Murray State College will return to competition Oct. 31, when the Aggies travel to Oklahoma State University for their next tournament.
