Lady Aggies Earn Dual Victory Over Vikings

Murray State College women’s wrestling competed in Poteau today

POTEAU, Okla. - The Murray State College Lady Aggies picked up an impressive dual victory on the road, defeating Carl Albert State College, 34-18, on Wednesday.

Murray State set the tone early at 103 pounds as Vivian Hayes earned a forfeit win to give the Lady Aggies an immediate advantage. Addison Polk followed with a strong performance at 110, scoring a 12-2 technical fall over Isabella Salas to extend the Aggies' lead.

Carl Albert responded with three consecutive wins in the middle weights as Laila Mirza (117), Madison Roe (124), and Mallory Sellars (131) each earned technical fall victories to tighten the team score. Murray State answered back at 138 pounds when Sofia Hernández delivered a key 16-5 technical fall over Kristen Barnes.

After Carl Albert claimed the 145-pound bout, the Lady Aggies took control of the dual with dominant performances in the upper weights. At 160, Gabby Akers pinned Kapree Bott in 1:54, igniting a decisive run for Murray State. Kaylee Davis (180) and Jordan Bread (207) followed with quick falls, each ending their matches in just 42 seconds. Jordyn Wilson capped the scoring stretch with a fall at 235 pounds, securing the dual victory for the Lady Aggies.

The Murray State College women's wrestling team returns to the mat Jan. 16 at the Missouri Baptist University Open. The first matches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
