HILLSBORO, Texas – The Murray State College men's and women's cross country teams competed this past weekend in the Hill College Classic that featured a mix of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NJCAA Division I and Division II junior college programs. The Aggies gained valuable experience against strong competition as they continue to build through the fall season.
Women's Results
Freshman
Erica Frass led the Aggies, finishing with a time of 21:56.68. She was followed by
Cheyanne Herrier (23:18.43) and
Christine Jebet Kurgat (25:06.26). Sophomore
Brynn Custar crossed the finish line at 25:40.84, while
Dakota Logan posted a time of 26:53.05.
Completing the Lady Aggies lineup were
Zoe Jones (27:38.85),
Carlee Gayler (28:19.65),
Rosizela Pineda (28:36.33), and
Cassi Matlack (30:18.70).
Dallas Baptist University won the women's race, while Murray State College finished eighth overall.
Men's Results
Freshman
Kaleb Madron paced the Aggies with a time of 30:04.10. He was followed by
Alex Gomez (35:13.88),
Shawn Weaver (35:28.53), and
Juan Flores (35:45.94).
Josh Armstrong and
Kameron Waller closed out the scoring effort for the Aggies.
On the men's side, Dallas Baptist claimed the team title, while Murray State finished just outside the top ten at No. 11.
Coach
Wagner reflected on the team's performance, noting both the challenges and the opportunities for growth.
"Today we battled adversity head on and rose to the challenge against nationally ranked teams from across the NCAA and NJCAA. This meet was a great test that will fuel our growth and strengthen our journey as we keep improving and progressing throughout the season."
The Aggies return to action next week when they travel to the University of Arkansas for the Chili Pepper XC Festival.
