EL RENO, Okla. - The Murray State College Academic Team began its 2025–26 season this past weekend at the Redlands Community College Kickoff, where 10 teams from four schools competed. The tournament was split into experienced and novice divisions, and Murray State entered two teams in each field.
In the experienced division, Murray State A posted an impressive 9-1 record, with its only loss coming against fellow Aggies. Murray State B followed closely behind at 8-2, with both of its defeats at the hands of Murray State A. Murray State A featured
Kanyon Beck,
Natalie Gehring,
Rachel Prince, and
Camrun Scott, while Murray State B included
Sam Beshear,
William Day,
Jaxsen Melton, and
Jaydon Walters.
The novice division was equally strong for Murray State, as Murray State C captured the title with an 8-2 mark. Murray State D finished 7-3 to tie for second place. Murray State C consisted of
Aidyn Boren,
Auburn Carter, and
Lance Thompson, while Murray State D was made up of
Joshua Merkle,
Toby Mulder, and
Kaden Smith.
Several individual honors capped off the tournament for Murray State.
Kanyon Beck was named the top scorer in the experienced division, while both
Aidyn Boren and
Auburn Carter earned All-Tournament recognition in the novice division.
The strong start sets the tone for what looks to be a very exciting season for the Murray State College Academic Team. Murray State College is back in action on Saturday, September 27 as they host the NAQT College Novice.
