Box Score TISHOMINGO, Okla. – The Murray State College women's soccer team delivered a dominant performance this afternoon, shutting out Northeastern Oklahoma A&M with a commanding 5-0 victory on their home turf.
It was a lightning-fast start for the Lady Aggies, who wasted no time asserting control. Freshman forward
Jasmyn Jackson opened the scoring in just the 2nd minute, slipping behind the defense and calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. Jackson struck again just five minutes later, this time blasting a shot from just inside of the box to make it 2-0.
The Lady Aggies continued to apply pressure. Midway through the first half,
Daniela Sandoval added a third with a smooth finish to give Murray State a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half,
Bridie Thompson took center stage. The sophomore forward found the back of the net twice to make it 5-0 and seal the victory for the Lady Aggies.
Defensively, the Lady Aggies were just as solid. Goalkeeper
Paula Ruano and the back line earned a well-deserved clean sheet, keeping NEO off the scoreboard for the full 90 minutes.
With the win, the Lady Aggies improve to 2-2 in Region 2 action and will look to continue building momentum throughout region play. Murray State returns to the pitch on Wednesday for a road matchup with Connors State College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
