Lady Aggies Shut Out Eastern

Murray State picked up their first Region 2 victory this afternoon

Box Score WILBURTON, Okla. – The Murray State College women's soccer team broke through this afternoon, earning their first victory of the season with a 2-0 road win over Eastern Oklahoma State College in Region 2 play.

The match was a defensive battle through the first half, as both teams created chances but went into the break locked in a 0-0 tie.

The Lady Aggies found their breakthrough in the 55th minute when Daniela Sandoval put away the opening goal to give Murray State the lead, 1-0. The Lady Aggies continued to press forward, and in the 80th minute, Mariana Morena added an insurance goal to seal the win.

Murray State's defense and keeper were terrific all game as Ruano recorded her first clean sheet of the season. Coach Winning was excited about the response out of his club, "Amazing way for our ladies to bounce back from our previous game and get the first win and shutout of the year."

Murray State will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday when they return home to square off against the University of Arkansas - Rich Mountain. The contest is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
