Box Score ENID, Okla. – The Murray State College men's soccer team kept its perfect regional record alive Wednesday night with a decisive 5-1 victory at NOC-Enid. The Aggies set the tone early with an aggressive attack that put the Jets on their heels from the opening whistle and never let up. With the win, MSC improves to 4-0 in region play.
Sophomore forward Dariel Contrera wasted little time making his mark on the game, striking in the 8th minute to give the Aggies the lead. Just 11 minutes later, he doubled the advantage with another composed finish in the 19th minute, capping off a dominant opening stretch. NOC-Enid managed to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Aggies quickly responded before the break. Masimba Bare delivered a crucial goal in the 38th minute, restoring control and sending Murray State into halftime with a 3-1 cushion.
After the break, the Aggies tightened up defensively and continued to pressure the Jets' back line. That effort paid off when sophomore Erik Montanez took over the scoring duties in the second half. Montanez buried a shot in the 64th minute and then struck again in the 72nd minute, effectively putting the match out of reach. His brace highlighted an impressive offensive performance that showcased MSC's depth and ability to close games strong.
Coach Winning praised his team's resilience and highlighted a standout performance from Erik, saying, "A great show of character when some exterior stuff wasn't going our way. Great for Erik to get the applause for two good goals after giving many good performances this season."
From start to finish, Murray State dictated the pace of play, finishing with a balanced attack and solid defensive organization. The victory at NOC-Enid not only extends their unbeaten run in region play but also builds confidence as the Aggies look ahead to the heart of their schedule. The Aggies return to the pitch for a pivotal road conference match against Eastern Oklahoma State College on Sunday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m.
