ARBUCKLE LAKE, Okla. – The Murray State College Bass Fishing team opened their season in dominant fashion, as the duo of
Carson Owen and
Jackson Roumbanis brought home first place in their season-opening tournament.
The two-day event featured 30 teams competing under a three-fish limit each day. Owen and Roumbanis jumped out to an early lead on Day 1 with a full three-fish limit that included a massive 9-pound bass to anchor their bag.
Day 2 proved to be just as steady, as the Aggie pair once again secured a limit, this time led by a solid 4-pound fish. Their consistency across both days gave them a six-fish total of 19.36 pounds, enough to hold off the competition and seal the victory.
The Aggies placed six teams in the Top 10 as the duos of
Cade Smith/
Axel Pierce and
Andrew Waters/
Warren Pierce recorded third and fourth-place finishes, respectively. Three teams rounded out the top ten for the Aggies as
Riley Motrych/
Tyler Johnson finished in the No. 8 spot,

Seth Salcido earned ninth place, and
Colton Arnold/
Braxton Davis finished in the No. 10 position.
"I am super happy with how this season has started and extremely excited about this entire team, said Coach Owen."
The win sets the tone for the season and gives the Murray State College bass fishing team a big points lead in the Oklahoma School of the Year standings.
