PARIS, Texas – The Murray State College women's soccer team opened the 2025 season on the road Sunday, falling 4–2 to Paris Junior College in a competitive match that saw the Aggies battle until the final whistle.
Both teams traded chances in the first half, with each side recording eight shots before the break. Paris struck first in the 15th minute when Jasmin Sina scored unassisted, but Murray State answered less than 10 minutes later with a goal of their own in the 23rd minute to even the score at 1–1.
The Dragons regained momentum late in the half as Madelyn Castro finished off a pass from McKinlee Burns in the 39th minute, giving Paris a 2–1 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, Paris' attack stayed sharp, outshooting the Aggies 6–2. Castro tallied her second goal in the 54th minute, this time assisted by Kaitlyn Walker, before Walker added a goal of her own in the 82nd minute with help from Ruby Almanza.
Murray State continued to push forward and was rewarded with a second goal in the closing seconds, but Paris held on for the 4–2 win.
The Aggies finished with 10 total shots compared to Paris' 14, showing balance in the opening half but finding fewer opportunities in the second period.
Murray State is set for Region 2 action beginning on Sept. 9 as the Lady Aggies take on Seminole State College.
