Davis Places Second; Lady Aggies Compete at Avila

Murray State College women’s wrestling competed in Missouri today

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Murray State College women's wrestling competed on Sunday at Avila University in the AU Women's Eagle Open, facing a deep field of junior college and four-year programs. The Aggies turned in several strong individual performances highlighted by a Kaylee Davis runner-up finish.
 
At 103 pounds, Vivian Hayes battled through a tough bracket to earn a fourth-place finish and 13 team points. After receiving a first-round bye, Hayes picked up a quick fall over Kaylei Parish of Lyon College in the quarterfinals. She rebounded in the consolation rounds with an 11–0 technical fall over Avila's Kylee Whalan before falling in the third-place match.
 
Addison Polk placed fifth at 110 pounds, scoring nine team points. Polk bounced back from an opening-round loss with a pair of decision victories in the consolation bracket before securing fifth place with a fall over Kailyn Bridges of McMurry.
 
At 117 pounds, Andie Wallace finished sixth after an impressive start to her day. Wallace opened the tournament with back-to-back falls over Avila's Rihanna Ricks and Indian Hills' Rylee Rice before encountering stiff competition later in the bracket. Amaya Rubalcado also competed at 117, gaining valuable experience against a strong field.
 
In the 145-pound division, Adrianna Chronister collected five team points, opening with a technical fall before adding a fall in the consolation rounds. Gabby Akers added three points at the same weight, earning an opening-round fall for the Aggies.
 
Kaylee Davis delivered Murray State's top finish of the tournament at 160 pounds, placing second and scoring 20 team points. Davis advanced to the championship match with three falls, including wins over opponents from Missouri Baptist, Indian Hills, and Colby Community College, before finishing as the runner-up.
 
Jordan Bread competed at 180 pounds, earning 2.5 team points and picking up a fall in the consolation bracket.
 
The Lady Aggies return to the mat on January 14 as they travel to Carl Albert State College.
