POTEAU, Okla. - Murray State College men's wrestling battled through a competitive field at the Viking Open hosted by Carl Albert State College this weekend. Several Aggie wrestlers gained valuable experience on the mat, with standout performances from Hudson Beckley and Kade Carter.

At 133 pounds, Beckley had an impressive showing after dropping his opening match. He bounced back with five consecutive victories — including three wins by pin and a 12-3 major decision — before defeating Jacob Zimmer (unattached) to claim third place in the weight class.

In the 149-pound division, Carter also put together a strong performance, recording multiple victories. He earned pins, a 13-7 decision over Benjamin Beaty (University of the Ozarks), and a dominant 18-6 major decision over Carl Albert's Dylan Abbott. Carter finished the day with a fourth-place medal.

At 197 pounds, Brayden Tomlinson picked up a hard-fought 9-8 victory over Taylor Hamric of Ouachita Baptist University, showing grit and determination in a competitive division.

Elsewhere, Desmond Mayfield (125), Gavin Wehr (133), Nathan Brown (157), Kaden Gallagher (165), Tyler Medeiros (197), Gabe Patterson (285), and Garrett Henry (285) each competed hard against strong competition, continuing to gain experience early in the season.

The Aggies will look to build on these performances as they continue their 2025 campaign. Murray State returns to the mat on Wednesday as they travel to Lincoln, Nebraska.
