FORT DODGE, Iowa - The Murray State College men's and women's cross country teams capped off an incredible 2025 season on Saturday afternoon. The women's team finished in the top third of the country, while the men's team finished in the top half.
Women's Race – 5K
Murray State College women's cross country delivered an impressive performance, finishing 33rd overall out of 44 teams that competed in nationals with a total of 727 points. The Aggies continued their trend of steady improvement this fall.
Freshman
Erica Frass led the way once again for Murray State, finishing 75th overall with a time of 21:38.2 — a strong mark in her first national appearance. Freshman
Christine Kurgat followed in 149th (23:00.7), and sophomore
Brynn Custar was close behind in 154th (23:06.9).
Freshman
Cheyanne Herrier finished 174th (23:29.1), while sophomore
Zoe Jones rounded out the scoring five in 248th (25:00.6). Freshmen
Dakota Logan (27:14.4) and
Carlee Gayler (27:46.0) also represented Murray State well in their first national competition.
Mesa Community College captured the women's team title with 54 points, followed by Paradise Valley (87) and Daytona State (220).
Men's Race – 8K
Murray State College men's cross country wrapped up its season with a spirited effort, finishing 42nd overall in a deep 46-team national field with 1,067 points. The Aggies ran with grit and determination from start to finish.
Sophomore
Halen Pannell paced the team with a time of 30:11.7, finishing 157th overall. Freshman
Kaleb Madron followed close behind in 191st (30:50.8), while sophomore
Shawn Weaver posted a 31:56.8 finish for 249th.
Sophomore
Juan Flores clocked 32:55.2 (280th), and fellow sophomores
Treygon Gehring (34:15.7) and
Josh Armstrong (34:29.0) finished 14 seconds apart in 305th and 307th. Sophomore
Alex Gomez rounded out the lineup at 324th (36:22.3).
Lansing Community College claimed the men's team championship with 32 points, followed by Des Moines Area (110) and Paradise Valley (127).
Coach Wagner praised both teams, stating "Our teams competed with heart and represented Murray State College in the best possible way. The women's team finishing in the top third of the country and the men's team finishing in the top half nationally is a huge accomplishment for our program. It shows how far we've come and the potential we have moving forward."
