Aggies Win First-Ever Home Match

Murray State College Wrestling Teams defeated McMurry on Friday

TISHOMINGO, Okla. - The Murray State College men's and women's wrestling teams hosted their first-ever dual this evening inside Beames Fieldhouse. The hosts dominated the evening as each Aggie wrestler earned the victory in their respective weight classes. The Lady Aggies shut out McMurry, while the men's team cruised to a lopsided win.

Women's Dual: Murray State 53, McMurry 0
The Lady Aggies opened the evening with complete control, earning seven falls and four forfeits to shut out the War Hawks.
 
Vivian Hayes set the tone immediately at 103 pounds, sticking her opponent in just 22 seconds. Dixie Holliday followed with another lightning-quick fall at 0:44, and the momentum never slowed. Addison Polk and Amaya Rubalcado picked up back-to-back forfeits, extending the lead.
 
At 131 pounds, Brissa Bernal recorded a fall at the 2-minute mark, and Sofia Acevedo kept the bonus-point streak alive with a 10-0 technical fall at 138. Gabby Akers continued the onslaught with a 15-0 tech fall in 2:28 at 145 pounds.
 
Murray State closed out the dual with a series of dominant pins—Caris Morris in 46 seconds, Kaylee Davis in 1:04—and forfeits at 207 and 235 to cap off the 53-0 shutout.
 
The Murray State women return to action on December 6, traveling to Kansas for a dual against Fort Hays State University.
 
Men's Dual: Murray State 52, McMurry 6
The men's team kept the energy high in the second half of the doubleheader, winning nine of ten matches and securing bonus points in all nine victories.
 
At 125 pounds, Desmond Mayfield delivered an early statement with an 18-3 technical fall in 4:44. Gavin Wehr and Hudson Beckley followed with forfeits, extending the Aggie lead.
 
Kade Carter energized the home crowd with a strong performance at 149 pounds, securing a fall at 2:48, before Nathan Brown and Kaden Gallagher added two more forfeits at 157 and 165.
 
Izaya Elix earned a pin at 3:18 in the 174-pound match to keep MSC rolling, and despite McMurry earning its lone points via forfeit at 184, the Aggies closed strong. At 197, Brayden Tomlinson recorded a 22-6 technical fall in 4:32, and heavyweight Garrett Henry ended the night in spectacular fashion—pinning his opponent in just 13 seconds.
 
Murray State's 52-6 win capped an unforgettable night as both programs claimed victories in their first home dual in school history. The Murray State men's wrestling team will be back in action on December 7, traveling to Kansas for a dual against Fort Hays State University.
