Lady Aggies Wrestle Well in Colby Dust Bowl Open

Murray State College competed in the Dust Bowl Open this afternoon

COLBY, Kan. – The Murray State College women's wrestling team battled through a full day of competition at the Colby Dust Bowl Open, earning several standout performances across multiple weight classes.

At 110 pounds, Dixie Holliday delivered the team's top finish of the day, placing second. She earned two falls and a tech fall on her path to the finals, including a pin in 2:56 over William Jewell's Ajalynn Jimenez in the semifinals. Holliday closed the day with a runner-up finish after a tech fall loss in the championship bout.

Also at 110 pounds, Addison Polk opened with a bye before dropping an 8-4 decision in the quarterfinals to Chadron's Mana Chanthasone. In the consolation bracket, she wrestled tough but fell 7-1 to Natalia Morales of Schreiner University.

In the 124-pound division, Amaya Rubalcado received a bye to start the tournament before taking a loss by fall in the quarterfinals. She responded with an 11-3 decision win in her second consolation-round match before narrowly falling 19-12 to Iowa Lakes' Keria Hessenius.

Also at 124 pounds, Andie Wallace started with a bye but was pinned in her opening match by Stevy Griffin of Iowa Lakes Community College and then lost her first match in the consolation bracket.

At 138 pounds, Sofia Hernández advanced through a first-round bye and won by fall over Colby's Jazrine Nieto late in the second round. She later dropped a 9-0 decision in the quarterfinals and was eliminated by fall in the consolation bracket.

In the 145-pound bracket, Adrianna Chronister earned a strong 5th-place finish. After opening with a 10-8 win over Fort Hays State's Jade Blackhart, she advanced deep into the consolation rounds with a fall and a tech fall before dropping her final two matches of the day.

Also at 145 pounds, Gabby Akers received a bye in round one but was defeated by tech fall in the quarterfinals and later fell in the consolation bracket, ending her tournament appearance.

At 160 pounds, Serenity Vaughn earned a strong 4th-place finish. After dropping her first match, Vaughn surged through the consolation bracket with four straight pins—three of them under two minutes—to reach the placing rounds.

Also at 160 pounds, Zolie Kurena earned a 6-1 decision win in her opening match. She later took losses by fall in both the quarterfinals and the consolation rounds.

At 180 pounds, Kaylee Davis delivered a standout performance, finishing third for the Lady Aggies. After dropping her opening match, she rattled off four consecutive pinfall victories—each in under three minutes—to secure the third-place result.

At the same weight, Jordan Bread placed sixth. Bread won two matches in the consolations, including a fall and a tech fall, before taking a 3-0 loss in the consolation semis and a fall in the fifth-place match.

Also in the 180-pound division, Carris Morris responded with a pin and a forfeit win in the consolation bracket before falling by tech fall to teammate Jordan Bread in the third round.

Rounding out the lineup at 207 pounds, Jordyn Wilson finished fourth. She opened with a dominant 10-0 tech fall and a first-period pin before falling in the semifinals. Wilson bounced back with another pin in the consolation semis to secure her spot in the placement round.

The Lady Aggies will look to carry this momentum into their first home contest of the season on Nov. 21. The 21st will also mark the first home dual at Murray State College. The competition is set for 5 p.m. against McMurry University.
